Diplomats’ Women’s Golf Team Partners With Lancaster Country Club
ÐÓ°Épro and the have entered into an agreement that will allow the to practice and host multiple Centennial Conference tournaments throughout the season.
Lancaster Country Club is ranked by Golf Magazine as one of the Top 100 Classic Design Courses, and is among the top 8 in PA. A well-recognized William Flynn design, Lancaster Country Club served as the host of the 2015 and 2024 U.S. Women’s Open Championships. Both of those championship events drew recording-breaking crowds for the tour, thanks to the course’s incredible design and amenities.
This partnership is another example of Lancaster Country Club’s support of the local community as 2015 U.S. Women’s Open Champion, In Gee Chun, helped form the In Gee Chun Lancaster Country Club Educational Foundation which helps the community by providing scholarships to caddies, employees of the club and their dependents who look to achieve their educational and vocational goals.
The ÐÓ°Épro women’s golf team will now have the unique opportunity to practice at two distinct golf courses as they continue their partnership with Overlook Golf Course where head coach Ken Ord is the PGA Head Professional. The team has achieved increased success in recent seasons, highlighted by Sarah Wang ’28 being recognized as the program’s first-ever Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year last Spring. Four Diplomats have combined to record six of the top-10 single-season scoring averages in just the past three seasons.
The partnership with Lancaster Country Club adds to an exciting month of news for the ÐÓ°Épro women’s golf program as Ken Mehlman ’88 has donated an historic $7.5 million gift for the construction of the Mehlman Strength, Conditioning, Wellness, and Performance Center. Included in this historic support of campus athletics and wellness is an indoor golf simulator facility which will allow the team to practice on campus throughout the year.
