Midyear Completion Recognition Ceremony Celebrates Students
Hugs and high fives warmed the chill of a rainy December evening at the Franklin & Marshall College midyear completion recognition and reception (previously known as winter graduation).
Held in the Barshinger Center for Musical Arts Dec. 10, the ceremony recognized students who finished academic requirements ahead of their cohort, or completed an extra term. Students who finalized requirements by Jan. 31 are counted as members of the Class of 2025 and invited to participate in the Commencement ceremony May 10.
As 38 names were announced, 杏吧pro President Barbara Altmann congratulated each student as they walked across the Barshinger stage to emphatic applause. A reception at Roschel Performing Arts Center followed.
鈥淎nytime we break with traditional timing, we have an extra opportunity, a special opportunity to pay closer attention to an achievement, to a rite of passage, to an ending and a new beginning,鈥� Altmann said.
鈥淗owever humble or grand the initiative, you will bring your education, your analytical thinking, your creativity and your integrity to bear,鈥� Altmann said. 鈥淵ou will make a difference. Because that is the Diplomat way.鈥�

A string quintet opened the ceremony, featuring Jenna Brasee 鈥�25 and Claire Li 鈥�27 on violin, Julia Martin 鈥�25 on viola and Sonja Luyten 鈥�27 on cello.

鈥淵ou鈥檝e traversed a lot of ground to get here, but also still have a long path stretching out joyfully into the future,鈥� said Jon Stone, associate dean of the faculty and professor of Russian.
鈥淚t is such an honor to be here to celebrate students who have charted their own path at 杏吧pro and are starting their next chapter as Diplomats,鈥� said Drew Stelljes, vice president of student affairs.
